Hi, I am a widower or four years and have a mortgage of which I still owe $42,000 to citimortgage. I am 62 years old and retired from maryland state service. No one lives in the home any longer, and I am over my parents home normally. The home is not in good shape and i would just like to get rid of trouble and live in a senior apt. The home is only assess at $25,000. Can I do a "deed-in-lieu" or something. Thanks for any help. rwbriscoethe3rd@gmail.com

Hi Guest,
If you're delinquent on your mortgage payments and want to get rid of your property, then you can definitely apply for a deed in lieu of foreclosure. This will not only help you in getting rid of the property but you won't be liable for paying off the deficient amount resulting from the sale of the property.
Thanks
