Contract for Deed

Posted on: 24th Oct, 2010 01:15 pm
We have a signed contract with the contractor who built our house. He left us with an extra $15,000.00 worth of expenses when he went out of state to pursue another career. In addition, we have a "hot" check he wrote us for $1250.00. We are in the process of turning the check over to the da's office. He is buying his house in our state under a contact for deed? Is there any way to put a lien on the property that he is purchasing?
Welcome bakelitegirly,

You will have to file a lawsuit and get a judgment against him in order to place a lien on his property. I will suggest you to contact a lender and take his opinion in this matter.
