My wife and I have bought a piece of property in brevard
county in June 2009. Our property taxes is much more higher than what we had paid for it. We called brevard county tax, they have told us our property is an income generated. Since it's a piece of land with nothing on it, we were shocked and replied what are you talking about? At that point they told us there is billboard by the side of the highway and we are being paid. We vehemently denied that claim since we bought that property we have not received a penny from anybody. They advised us to go get the ID number which we did but we don't know what to do next. The Brevard county personel is not being helpful. Any suggestion as what to do to identify the owner of that billboard and how to collect our money.

I'm incredulous that you purchased this property without any notion that there existed a billboard on it that was generating income. How fortuitous that you came along, for the previous owner of the property to sell it to you.
I have to guess that you bought this parcel sight-unseen...is that right? What possessed you to do so? Was it the price? Or did they show you pretty pictures?
I would have to think that you're going to have to go back to the person or entity that sold you this property, with a lawyer in tow, preferably. I can't imagine that the Brevard County folk would have much knowledge of what business transactions might have taken place between that owner and the billboard owner. I think you may be asking for more than you can possibly get from them.

Start with previous owner ... it sounds like they may still be receiving a check from the billboard company. Also, at the bottom of billboards there is an insignia that contains the name of the company that owns that billboard. Call them too.
The County isn't going to be able to provide you with any information about the billboard company, because they had nothing to do with the transaction. The contract was signed between the property owner and billboard company.

Raymond, you have exceedingly more patience with some of these queries than I do. I commend you.
Maybe it's all the old-timers you do business with that creates that ethic in you.
Old timers ... and a puff or two of medicine.
Ah! No Wonder!
Raymond, check out this post from yesterday - 64 y.o. lady needs a new reverse mortgage...
