When a Chapter13 Bankruptcy has been paid off can the Mortgage company as for addtional funds?...I recently finished paying off a ch 13 banktruptcy. When the trustee requested a statement from the mortgage company saying I was current in my home loan. The mortgage company came back saying that I stilled owed $1000.00. The fees include a banktruptcy fee, a property inspection fee ect ect. these fees were not a part of the original plan. According to the trustees records and my records the my home loan is current and up to date.
Hi ingrid,

If you are current on your mortgage payments, then you'll not have to pay any additional fees. However, you'll have to pay the lawyer's fees for representing you in the bankruptcy court. I did not understand why the attorney is charging you home inspection fees. You should contact your bankruptcy attorney and clarify the issue with him.

Thanks

thank you james for the advice, it is much appriciated! It is Countrywide that is stating that i am not current. They are adding fees to my bankruptcy that were not included in the original plan, thus dragging it out for another 9 months

Hi ing,

I would suggest you to contact your lender and discuss it with him. You can ask for clarifications from the lender as to why they are adding extra charges. However, if you did not pay the home inspection fees at the beginning, then the lender may ask you to pay it off now.

Thanks
