A condo is mortgaged in only my mother-in-laws name. Both my name and her name are on the title. She will be to filing for bankruptcy. Would this effect me or my credit in any way? Is there a way to remove my name form title? Please help! What is the best solution??
Hi Jess!

If your name is not on the mortgage, then you will not be affected in any way. Yes, you can remove your name from the title of the property by signing a quitclaim deed in your mother-in-law's name.
Feel free to ask if you have further queries.

Hi Jess!
I don't think that the bankruptcy will affect you as your name is not on the mortgage. Quitclaim is the best way to remove your name from the property.
Thanks,
Jerry

yes, due to your name isn't on the mortgage, you will not be affected. also, you can sign a quit claim deed to your mother-in-laws. but your mother-in-laws cannot sign it to you.
