Exhusband Fililng Bankruptcy

Posted on: 08th May, 2009 10:56 pm
hi i have a question. i got divorcd in february and my exhusband just advised me he is filing bankruptcy. our divorce papers state we will split the house payment until it sells (it is currently on the market) . it also sells if he cannot pay his half of the house when we sell i will get that back when selling. for example, if he misses 1000$ when selling..i'll get that extra. how does his filing bankruptcy affect the house and my credit?
Hi hsanders,

If the property is still in his name, then the bankruptcy trustee can sell it off in order to pay off the creditors. You may also get your portion of the money after the property is sold. I don't think your credit will affected due to his filing of bankruptcy.

HI hsanders1,

Welcome to our forum.

would like to advice you that, If currently property on your ex husbands name that means he is responsible for pay. If he filing in bankruptcy so he can sell property to pay them & it will never effects on your credit score.

Thanks & Regards.
