i included a rental property in my chapter 7 bankruptcy petition and did not reaffirm. i obtained a discharge. the foreclosure process has started (illinois) and i do not live in the property. it takes a long time for the foreclosure process to be finalized. what are my responsibility at this point regarding assessment fees, city fines for upkeep of the exterior, taxes and insurance and all possible costs after the petition and discharge. i still receive bills for assessment fees, summons from city and a fine. please let me know.
Hi petitegoforum,
As far as I know, until the property is sold off at a foreclosure auction, you'll be liable for the maintenance of the property. You should ask your lender to sell off the property asap so that you don't remain liable for the property in any way.
Thanks

If the lender has started the foreclosure process, i hope so these maintenance fees should be discussed with him so that you might be stopped paying all these fees. Any how as james suggested, insist the lender to complete the foreclosure process as soon as possible.
