Is it unusual for an attorney to ask for a quit claim deed in a bankruptcy?

i am thinking of filing for bankruptcy, and the lawyer i spoke to said one of the forms i need to get from the town office was a quit claim deed. is it unusual for a lawyer to ask for a quit claim deed in a bankruptcy?
it strikes me as funny. now, of course, i would expect that the lawyer gave a reason for this, right? what's the reason given? if there's any sense to it, then we might be able to comment further. otherwise, it's an odd request, i think.

Every bankruptcy is different. You should ask your Attorney "why", and not sign a Quit Claim until you understand why you're doing it and are comfortable with the explanation.

i am incredulous that a person might have to be told to "ask why" in such a circumstance. when confronted with a request such as has been described to us, the first word out of my mouth would have been "why."
