Are relatives liable if I file for Chapter 13

Posted on: 13th Jul, 2009 10:11 am
I live with family members in an apartment attached to their house. Our address is the same. I pay no rent but do pay toward utilities including water, electric and phone all of which are in their name. Are they liable in any way if I file a Chapter 13 bankrupcy. None of that which would be listed in a Chapter 13 bankrupcy are in their name nor are they listed as co-signers on any of that which would be included.
Hi nanasattic!

Welcome to forums!

If the property is not in your relatives' name and if their name is not listed as co-signers on the mortgage, then they are not required to file bankruptcy with you.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
