Protecting co-signer with Chapter 7

Posted on: 25th May, 2010 01:01 pm
My mom co-signed for my apartment and I'm thinking of filing Chapter 7.....she is currently in her bnakruptcy, which is a Chapter 13. Is there a way around her being responsible? How will this affect her current bankruptcy?
Hi carlyvandyke,

I would suggest you to get in touch with a bankruptcy attorney and discuss the whole situation with him/her. The attorney will be the best to help you in this matter. He will go through the whole situation and let you know how your Chapter 7 bankruptcy filing will affect your mother.

Thanks
