Still in my home after surrendering it in Ch. 7 Bankruptcy

Posted on: 23rd Jan, 2010 02:47 pm
My Bankruptcy was discharged in November of 2009 and here it is Jan. 2010. I have not heard from our mortgage company or anyone else. My lawyer (for some reason) said not to contact them until they have sent me a foreclosure notice. I have been living mortgage and rent free since March 2009 and it is a great help with the financial problems we still face, but I am nervous that when we get notice we will not have enough time to find a good place to live with pets. I would appreciate any insight you might have. Thanks in advance!
some thing i forgot to mention on last post. i had a second mortgage and my first mortgage was a va backed loan. thanks!

What type of bankruptcy did you file? I guess you filed for Chapter 7 and did not get it reaffirmed. In that case, you can surrender the property to your lender and try to look out for another property. The lender will foreclose it and sell it off to recover his dues.
