Why would a bankruptcy attorney push for Chapter 13? We wanted to file bk and thus consulted a bankruptcy attorney. We even cleared the means test. So, we though we would be able to file Chapter 7. But the attorney is constantly asking us to go for Chapter 13.
Hi Sophie,
As far as I know, Chapter 13 leads to twice the amount of fees than a chapter 7. This might be one of the reasons why your bankruptcy attorney wants you to go for Chapter 13. However, there could be other reasons as well. You should contact the bankruptcy attorney and check out the reasons as to why he is forcing you to file Chapter 13.
Thanks,
Jerry

Hi Sophie!
Welcome to forums!
Qualifying for Chapter 7 solely does not depend upon qualifying the means test. I would suggest you to not speculate anything and directly contact the attorney and clarify the whole matter.
Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
