my chapter 7 bankruptcy was discharged in august 2009. the mortgage lender sent papers to file for a deed in lieu, but i refused to fill out the papers. they wanted information about my finances after the bankruptcy. i do not believe they are entitled to that information. i told them to go ahead with foreclosure. they have done nothing yet. meanwhile, the home-owners association is pressuring me to pay the association dues! am i responsible for this?
Hi Guest,
As the property is still in your name, you're the owner of the property. Thus, the home-owners association has the rights to pressurize you for the association dues. You are liable to pay off the dues as well. If the property had been sold off at a foreclosure auction, then you wouldn't have been liable for the payments.
