filing chapter 7 with a personal injury suit

Posted on: 20th Jan, 2010 06:46 pm
I was injured in a car accident and have a personal injury suit filed. I want to file chapter 7 due to injury. I do not know how long it will take to collectfor my law suit I exspect it will be a while.Do I have to report this? I want this money for ellective surgery that my insurance will not cover on my back. This means I will be able to work possibly like I use to. Right now I even had to change jobs and this one is unstable.
While you file Chapter 7, you will have to inform your bankruptcy trustee and the court about the personal injury suit that you've filed. If you don't do so, the bankruptcy court may think that you've acted in bad faith by concealing the existence of the lawsuit.
