Hi there… I have lots of credit cards and now I am planning to file bankruptcy due to financial crisis. Will it be a good option for me to close down my credit cards now? Or should I wait till I file bankruptcy. And when can I reapply for credit cards?
Hi Gibson,

You don't have to wait till you file bankruptcy. If you wish, you can close down your credit cards now. Once you get a discharge from your bankruptcy filing, you can again reapply for credit cards.

Take care

Though you can apply for fresh credit cards after bankruptcy, but then you'll have to work a lot on improving your credit score since that'll help you to qualify for the most affordable rates.

I'd let the bankruptcy process close out the credit cards. After the discharge, get 2 secured credit cards with low limits, and start making on-time payments, and your credit scores will recover.
