I have filed bankruptcy and have included all my accounts into it. But then one of the accounts is showing up separately as a collection account. My scores are getting affected due to that, isn’t it? How do I fix it?
hi karenina,
yes, if the account shows separately even after filing bankruptcy, then there are high chances that it will negatively affect your credit score. it will be better if you could contact the credit bureaus and ask them to update the status of that account in your credit report.
take care

Hello Karenina,
Bankruptcy laws are designed to distribute those assets held by the debtor as equitably as possible among creditors. Most of the time it also frees the debtor or "bankrupt" from further liability, but there are exceptions to this. Bankruptcy proceedings may be initiated either by the debtor—a voluntary process—or by creditors—an involuntary process.
