Do I have to move?

Posted on: 17th Oct, 2010 03:41 pm
my ex-boyfriend has moved out of our home and is filing bankruptcy, including the house. i still live in the home and waiting to purchase when it goes into foreclosure. my question is do i have to move immediately following his court hearing or do i have some time before i have to move? i live in new york state and in chemung county.
Welcome kkautz,

Though your ex has filed bankruptcy, you don't have to move out of the property immediately. You will receive an eviction notice from the court or the lender. Once you receive the notice, you'll have to leave the property.
