Can you declare bankruptcy from a land contract?

Posted on: 07th Aug, 2010 02:16 pm
My father and I are purchasing a home on a land contract and it's not going the way we planned. Everything is messing up in the house and we're really considering on moving. I'm scared that the owners will take us to court or something if we move out. I just want to know if it would be possible to claim bankruptcy so we wont have a $100,000 house on our credit. Thanks!
Hi tashashazier,

If you haven't signed any documents, then you can simply walkaway from the deal and the sellers can't come after you. They won't be able to charge you for any money if you haven't signed any agreement. In my opinion, it won't be a good option to file bankruptcy.
