Credit card sold before bankruptcy

Posted on: 27th Aug, 2010 10:48 am
My husband file bankruptcy and a foreclosure was included in it. Also we had an account that was sold before our bankruptcy was filed, less than 30 days before it was filed. Now the original agency is listing the account as charged off on two of the credit agencies and will not change the reporting even though the account was included in the bankruptcy. Also, the company that it was sold to Midland Credit Management will not call us back. We have left repeated messages and they will not return the call.

My question is how will this affect our ability to obtain a mortgage in the future. We are rebuilding our credit right now and saving money for a down payment.
Hi efeagin!

Welcome to forums!

A charge off will have a negative affect on your credit report and scores will also decrease to some extent. When you apply for a mortgage, the lender will want you to pay off the charged off account in full.
