I had filed bankruptcy and after my discharge, my Equifax score is 480 and Transunion score is 535. They are so low!! At present I have 7 medical collections that I'm disputing that are included in my bankruptcy hoping some of them get deleted from my reports. I recently got approved for a few unsecured cards and I have two secured cards. What can I do??
Hi Sandra,
Once you remove the medical collections from your credit report, it will definitely have a positive impact on your credit score and they will start increasing. You may not find immediate results but with time, you will find your scores improving.
Thanks,
Jerry

Hello, yes the collections are what is bringing the most negative reporting to your credit. If you have some credit cards, use them wisely, and keep the balance under 40% of your credit score. This will help you build credit, as you are using the credit, but not over extended. Time on accounts, high balances, derogatory and collections weigh down your scores. Fix all these items and you will see improvement. Good luck!
