How long does a bankruptcy normally last? I have been in bankruptcy for almost 4 years ? I was not told specifically when I filed. I was only told it could last for 3-5 years.

What type of bankruptcy did you file? I guess you filed for Chapter 13 bankruptcy. Under this bankruptcy, the lender must have given you a payment plan to pay off the dues within 3-5 years. Once you complete the payment plan, your bankruptcy would be discharged.
