My bankruptcy was dismissed after my lawyer didn't file all the required paperwork. He is pretty bad and I am afraid to use him even though he is only going to charge me 550 to refile. I am thinking of doing it myself. I was wondering if there was any lawyer willing to give me a cut rate deal since the petition is already filed. My understanding is I can file at any time but only have a 30 day stay because he didn't file the extension.

I was ordered to submit copies of my income tax to the trustee. Mailed it out before the deadline. Three weeks later (deadline is past), the enveloped came back. Will my bk 7 be dismissed?

I filed bk 7 not to long ago, I happen to go on PACER to look at my records, clicked on the status. While looking at the doc it said next to

I took the means test and it said if I made less than a certain amount In didn't have to take the test. That i qualified for chapter 7 before filing. I'm confused and curious why it says that.

hi curious,
it is true that in order to file chapter 7 bankruptcy, you will have to take the means test. if you qualify the test, you'll be able to file chapter 7. if not, then you will be liable for paying chapter 13. you should contact your bankruptcy attorney and he will be able to explain you in a better manner.
thanks

I didn't know I had to save my gas and grocery receipts now my hearing is coming, I have all other paper work, bank statements tax returns etc. Will this cause my case to be dismissed?
Hi Rhonda,
It is always better if you have all the paperwork handy with you. However, you should contact a bankruptcy attorney and take his/her opinion in this matter. He/she will be able to guide you better in this regard.

I owe $35,000 in credit card debt. I have a home equity line on the house I am living in for $88,000 and I used up $87,000 of the equity line. The house is probably worth $60,000. I also have a rental property paid for free and clear worth about $60,000. My salary is only $200.00 a week. If I file bankruptcy would I be able to keep my properties?
Hi pittman,
If you file Chapter 7 bankruptcy, then you will have to surrender your assets which will be used in order to pay off your creditors.
