the cosigner filed bankruptcy

Posted on: 30th Nov, 2009 02:26 pm
I bought a car 2 yrs ago. the person that cosigned for me filed bankruptcy. i didnt find out until i tried to pay a payment and they told me they cant give me a bill. what do i do? will this affect my credit? i'm the title holder and have made all the payments. i cant even get a hold of the person who cosigned for me.
Hi jagreen,

As you've not filed bankruptcy, it won't effect your credit score in any way. However, I think it would be mentioned in your credit report that the car loan was included in other person's bankruptcy. I would suggest you to contact your lawyer and take his opinion in this regard.

Thanks
