Hi harrysgrill!
Welcome to forums!
You will have to check out whether or not the property has been foreclosed. If the property has been foreclosed and sold off at the auction, then the lender can only ask you to clear off the deficient amount resulting from the sale. If you do not pay it, then he can send it to collections.
As far as filing bankruptcy jointly is concerned, I would suggest you to take the opinion of a bankruptcy lawyer. He will help you in taking the right decision.
Feel free to ask if you've further queries.

Hi,
You said that in your divorce paper it is mentioned that your house needs to be sold to pay off all debts contributing to the home, so if after selling also if anything deficient amount is left, you are also responsible to pay that off. Regarding bankruptcy, even if it is not jointly, then also you are responsible for the debts. Consult a good lawyer to get detailed information.
