Should my friend file bankruptcy?

Posted on: 19th Sep, 2012 01:14 am
My friend lost his job and mobile home in 2010. To top it all, now the IRS has filed a tax lien against him. He doesn't own anything and his former wife destroyed all his tax records! Someone told him that he could file for bankruptcy. Is that really an option for him? This is all new to him & he doesn't know what to do or where to look. Any help you can give him would be appreciated!
i don't think filing bankruptcy will be a good option for your friend. as far as i know, irs taxes don't get discharged in a bankruptcy filing.

Hi Guest,

It will be better if your friend could contact the IRS and set up a payment plan with them which will help him in paying of the debt. Also, this will have a positive impact on his credit.

Thanks
