I filed bankruptcy to stop foreclosure on my home. My lender put my home in foreclosure even though I was in the middle of a HAMP Modification. As of March 2010, Federal Regulation mandated that lenders cannot foreclose on homeowners if they are in the middle of a modification. I have since dismissed my bankruptcy, but want to know why it has to stay on my credit report when my lender forced me to file to protect my home.
Hi melinda,
If you had filed bankruptcy, then it will remain on your credit report for 7 years. I don't think the lender forced you to file bankruptcy. You filed it because you wanted to save your property from foreclosure.
Thanks,
Jerry
