garnishment

Posted on: 21st Feb, 2010 12:28 pm
hello ,i filed bankruptcy in 02 and have to wait untiloct 2010 to file again. In the meantime we are being garnished both my husband and i at the same time 25%.This leaving us with less the 90.00 per wk to live on this includes gas, food, meds we both take regularly. We work out of town so gas is aprox 50.00 to 60.00 per wk. If we use more we can not pay lights mortgage or other payments. We just surrendered our car and bought an old junker just to get to work. What can we do to get this down or held off till oct.
Hi jo,

I can understand that you are facing a tough situation due to your wage garnishment. However, you won't be able to file another bankruptcy until October, 2010. You may contact your friends and relatives and check out whether or not they can help you in this regard. I don't think the creditor garnishing the wages will be ready to negotiate with you.

if you can have a conversation with the creditor, and persuade them to look at your circumstances and to alter the garnishment in your favor, that's the way to do this.

hopefully, you can convince that creditor to reduce the amount being taken from your wages.
