Will it be difficult to get a house after filing bankruptcy? Or will it hamper all my chances of getting a mortgage?
Filing bankruptcy will not hamper all your chances of getting a mortgage. However, you may not be able to get a mortgage to buy a home immediately after bankruptcy filing. After a bankruptcy discharge, you will have to wait for 2-4 years, depending upon the type of bankruptcy you file, and then apply for a mortgage.
Hi Trid,
Filing bankruptcy is not the end of everything. As Niicss has suggested, you will still be able to buy a house after filing bankruptcy.

After you file for bankruptcy, you will not get a mortgage for few years, say 2-4 years. However, this will depend upon the type of bankruptcy you may file. Once the time period gets over, you can apply for a loan and then the lender will approve your loan.
