Bankruptcy

My wife and I borrowed money to hire a lawyer to claim bankruptcy. we went through all the steps and were discharged on sept, 2010. We filed our taxes and the trustee kept our money After the case was closed. is this possible ? I askedthe lawyer we used and he just said that they can still have the case open after the discharge letter. This makes no sense to me. We were never warned this could happen and so now we owe the money we borrowed from friends and family, the bank took our tax returns and our lawyer just says they can do that. Is there anything we can do to get the money back from the trustee since this was done after the case was closed or from the lawyer for not warning us and not actually getting the job done?
Welcome edward,

The bankruptcy trustee can take your tax refunds and use it to pay off your creditors. There is nothing wrong in it. I don't think you'll be able to get back the money from the trustee.
