Home Loan After Bankruptcy

Posted on: 24th May, 2010 01:30 pm
I filed for bankruptcy in June of 2008 and included my home. The bankruptcy discharged in October of 2008. I looked over my credit report and didn't see anything indicated as a forclosure on my credit, just included in bankruptcy. Will i still have to wait 3 years to qualify for an FHA loan or will I have to wait 2? Is the home still considered a forclosure on my credit or debt within the bankruptcy? I have been told two different answers.

Thank you,
hi kburke!

welcome to forums!

after a chapter 7 bankruptcy, you will have to wait for 2 years in order to get a fha loan whereas for conventional loans, you will have to wait for 4 years. once you complete 2 years, you can start applying for fha loans.

feel free to ask if you've further queries.
