I filed bankruptcy in 2007 and surrendered my house at that time. Now my credit is re-established and I'm ready to buy a new home. The problem is when I went to get pre-approved the lender tells me the house is still in my name. What do I do now?
I would suggest you to take the help of a bankruptcy attorney. This will help you find out the reason why the house is still in your name. I think that you will not find any difficulty in getting pre-approved for the loan.
It is likely that this is just a common error by lenders that use a service to check public records. It is possible that when you "surrendered" the property in 2007 that there was an error in recording but it's not likely.
