Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows what for to file when you are including your house in bankruptcy so that the IRS doesn't tax you on the mortgage. Any answers are greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Hi trina!
Welcome to forums!
Unless your mortgage debt is forgiven, you won't be liable for any tax payments to the IRS. Moreover, you should note that though your mortgage debt is forgiven, the IRS won't charge you taxes because of the Mortgage Debt Relief Act. The Act will remain in vogue till the year 2012.
Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
