Posted on: 13th Jun, 2010 01:57 pm
Hi I have lost a high paying job several years ago and have found only a lower paying job, I was the main breadwinner. My husband and I are behind on mortgage, although we are undergoing loan modification right now under making homes affordable. We have credit card debt exceeding 50K we each have a 2003 car paid for, Which bankruptcy should we file and can we keep our home, We also sold a piece of property on a land contract a year ago and get a 500 month payment for the next 5 years will this affect anything We started a business 4 years ago and used personal credit cards to the tune of 25K for the business and we take no income from this so he is self employed with no salary what to do.
Hi jmnorr,

You can file Chapter 13 bankruptcy in order to save your property. This chapter of bankruptcy filing will help you in re-organizing your debts. The lenders/creditors will give you an affordable payment plan which will help you in paying off the dues within 3-5 years. Thus, you'll be able to save your property.
