I filed a Chapter 13 in May 2004 and completed it and got a discharge. I have gotten car loans and credit cards in the past 5 years and have maintained a clean record. I am buying a house from my father and wish to finish paying him in a lump sum. I went to my bank and applied for a $25000 loan and was denied. They said it was due to my Chapter 13 and they would not approve me until I am 10 years out of this filing. I am afraid to apply with any other mortgage company, but I hate to give up. My father is in need of some cash to pay taxes on his property ASAP. Should I stand up tall and go elsewhere, or should I realize this is most likely the only answer I will recieve no matter where I go?
