My late wife filed bankruptcy before we were married. I also refinanced my home and used her income before we were married. I have "NEVER" filed for bankruptcy But I is now on my credit report. Also every time I make a mortgage payment. I am read a statement, That I am making a volenteer payment because I have been discharged. What does that mean?
Hi DScott!
Welcome to forums!
If you had never filed bankruptcy, then it shouldn't be mentioned in your credit report. You should contact the credit bureaus and dispute the negative item to get it removed. You should also let your lender know that you never filed bankruptcy so they can't give you a statement which will read that you're making voluntary payments.
Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
