What does this quit claim deed refer to?

I had filed bankruptcy last year and I had a house getting reaady to go to a sherriffs sale. We surendered the house and it was listed in the bankruptcy which was discharged.
I now have recieved a bill from an attorney who represents the home owners association of tis old house. They say my name is still on the property and I owe the back dues. I looked up the property on the local website and found that the name at he recorders office is mine and it shows the deed type as a Quit Claim. we contacted the attorneys who had filed the original judegment and it shows as being paid off and they disposed the judgement. I am now totaly confused as to who owns the property as now I am going to be getting a tax bill. I have not been able to contact the original mortgage company to find out if the property was sold and just not recorded. What is your opinion on the quit clainm side of this?
Hi deanherbertz!

If you have sold the property, then it is the new owner who owns the property now. I guess you haven't signed a deed and transferred your ownership to the new buyer. That's why the property reflects your name.

As you have sold the house, you need to visit the tax assessor's office and change the name in the property tax bills. You have mentioned that there are certain back dues. Can you tell me what they are? If its the home owner association's fees, then they have all the right to ask you to pay it off.

Thanks

The house was under the control of the bk trustee. If the mortgage was discharged, the house should have gone to the mortgage holder. Check with your bk attorney to see what happened.
