We filed chapter 7 in Dec2007 and was discharged in April 2008. Our attorney put down that we would retain collateral and continue to make regular payments. We didn't know about reaffirming until our lender called to see if we wanted to refinace to a lower rate. We have never been late on anything since then but they are stuck on the reaffirming. We have never been late on our mortgage payment since we bought it in August 2002. Is it too late to reopen the bankruptcy and reaffirm our mortgage? How long before they start to report our payments to the credit agency. This so confusing because of the way my attorney worded it but didn't reaffirm it.
Welcome DIRTMONSTERS,
You have mentioned that your bankruptcy filing was discharged in 2008. I don't think you'll be able to re-open the bankruptcy now. Nevertheless, you should contact your bankruptcy attorney and take his opinion in this matter.
