We recently filed for bankruptcy and have had our creditor's meeting. During our creditor's meeting we came across a problem. We filed bankruptcy 7.5 years ago. Is there any way that we can still qualify now? If not, how can we protect ourselves from garnishment? We have experienced a dramatic drop in our income.
Welcome walkingdog,
Unless 8 years are complete, you cannot refile Chapter 7 bankruptcy. There are high chances that your bankruptcy filing will get dismissed. You should inform your creditor/lender about your financial situation and ask them not to garnish your wages. Rather, you can ask your creditor/lender to give you a payment plan so that you can repay your debts.

And file chp 7 after your 8 years is complete, if still needed.
