What happened to my 2nd mortgage after my bankruptcy?

Posted on: 26th Jun, 2009 11:12 pm
Hello,

I filed for bankruptcy and it was discharged in March of this year after my business had failed due to the economy. At the time bankruptcy was filed, I was 3-4 months behind on my 1st & 2nd mortgage but contacted both lenders to let them know I fully intended to stay in the house and catch up on payments after bankruptcy.

Im currently about 1/2 way through my repayment plan on my 1st mortgage with Bank of America. My question is with my 2nd mortgage which is with Chase. After my bankruptcy was discharged, the loan completely vanished from my credit report. I contacted Chase to find out about setting up a payment plan. After faxing in my paper work to the Home Retention manager I have not heard from him again and its been almost 2 months. I have not received any correspondence OR monthly statements from Chase. I've personally emailed the Home Retention specialist I was working with and his emails go through fine but not even a peep of an email returned to me in 2 months.

Was this 2nd ( HELOC ) cleared off in my bankruptcy? Someone please advise as to what may have happened as I cannot get any answers from Chase.

Thank you.
hi chaddeihl!

welcome to forums!

did you speak to your bankruptcy attorney regarding this? i think the second mortgage got discharged as you had filed for bankruptcy. i would suggest you to contact the customer care department of chase and check out the status of your second loan.

feel free to ask if you have further queries.
