I filed bankrupcy and was discharged from my mortgage. I had already stopped paying mortgage and abandoned property. Mortgage company did not take property as it was condemened. Now the municipality is filing suit to make me pay for demolition on property. How do I remove my name from the title since the bankrupcy court discharged my debt?
Hi Guest,
You can surrender the property to the lender and request him to foreclose the property asap so that you can get rid of it. Once the lender sells off the property, you won't remain the owner of the property. Thus, you won't be liable for paying the balance dues.
