My wife and I had a lot of delinquencies with our mortgage, before we actually lost our house. The only payments that they did not eventually receive was the last six months. Four years ago, they said they were putting us on a non-accrual status because of this. They said that this is the reason that we did not recieve a 1098 for the last three years of our mortgage. Our payments never went down. We still made the same payment for all but the last six months of our loan. Can they legitimately say that we paid no interest? It seems like they should be required to give us our 1098's for all of those years.
i would think that you're right about it. if they charged you interest, you ought to be able to get a statement about what you paid. check into who the supervisory agency is for this lender, and you can inquire with that agency, registering your concerns and complaints.
