Help! Received 1099-C after filing 2010 taxes.

Posted on: 02nd Mar, 2011 05:00 pm
My fiance owned a home with his ex-wife (in NC). The home went into forclosure in 2010. I have already filed his taxes for 2010 and just found that the lender sent both of them a 1099-A to our address. The total is box 2 is $74,496.73, the total in box 4 is $93,045.19. There was no 1099-C. What do I do with this form now that the taxes have already been filed? How is it handled that both of them got the same form with the same totals on it?
Hi juliet,

This is something which will be better answered by a CPA. Moreover, unless your fiance receives a 1099c form, he won't be liable for taxes.
