What To Do With A 1099-A form

Posted on: 09th Feb, 2011 06:42 am
1099-a tax form advise, please....i am from wi and in sept. 2009 our chapter 7 bankruptcy was discharged which included our home. now we received a 1099-a and desperately need answers as to how, if anything, we need to do with this form and our 2010 income taxes. our bankruptcy attorney told us we did not have to do anything with that on our taxes; however, an accountant told me that we have to file a 982 form (i think it was); does anyone know exactly we need to do with that form on our taxes? please help!
Hi debdillon,

You will have to include the 1099A form while you file your income taxes for 2010. The 1099A form has been given to you as you have abandoned your property. The tax adviser will be the best to guide you in this matter.
