I was my mothers care giver for 6 yrs.I had to move into her home and take care of her. She had stage 4 colon cancer, which she lived through the 6yrs they gave her. My question is does her house has to be sold due to the Medicaid she was on. If we have to sell her house due to pay back this help I will be with out a home. My home I lost due to non payments an couldn't keep it rented to make the payments. Now I am ask to move from the house and I have 3 months to do so. I just had major surgery on my rt knee which doesn't allow me to work. I am trying to get my SSI to go through because my health also has deteriorated.I also had my left knee total replaced in Oct. I had the rt knee just recent revsion cause the implant that was there was over 15 yrs old and had come loose.I am having a hardship trying to figure out were can I go now since mom is gone which she just passed away Feb. 1st.I have no income and cant work due to my surgerys. Is there a hardship I can file to stay in the house.

Hi lindaf,
Well, you are in a tough situation. There are chances that the Medicaid with take her home in order to recover the dues after her death. If she is dead now, then Medicaid may come after the home. You may speak to an attorney and check out if there is any way out to this.
Thanks
