Hello all,
I am closing this Friday so I need to buy some insurance tonight for everything to be smoothed out.
I have to buy insurance equal to a percentage of the appraisal: Amount of 48,00
On comparing rates online I see I can pick the personal property and then it takes a percentage of that (from 10 - 50%) and calculates dwelling coverage.
Do I ..
1) take 48,000 in personal property
2) increase personal property till dwelling is = 48,000
3) call and get low personal property and then get dwelling = 48,000................which I hate they always keep me on the phone for a long time and I have a family to take care of so it would make comparing rates take a looooong time.
My mortgage broker just replied to my email with " Chris, purchase 48k. "
Which is vague! I was hoping some experienced persons who have been in my shoes can tell me which option they picked!
Thanks ya'll

As far as I can understand, the home insurance should be equivalent to the appraised value of your property. I would suggest you to immediately get in touch with your mortgage broker and ask him to clarify the issue. This will help you in knowing how much insurance you require for your property.
