My mother passed away in sep.2009. She has left me the house in her will. She only owed 2,000 on a equity loan, which I have been making the payments, all othr bills are paid for,Property tax and school tax. Now my laywer says the estate debt is apprx. 13,000. I have lived in this house taking care of my late mother for the last 6 years, I see no reason why the estate debt is so high. Can you shed some light?
Welcome G_RC,
In my opinion, it is your lawyer who would be able to help you in this matter in a better way. You need to contact your lawyer and ask him to explain why the estate debts are so high.
