Home Owners Insurance

Posted on: 22nd Mar, 2010 06:22 am
I closed on my house on 2/19/2010. The closing attorney sent a check to the home owners insurance company. I received a letter in the mail telling me they are going to cancel my home owner's on 4/10/2010 because they ran my credit report and it's not strong enough for them to insure my house. Have you ever heard of this??? What do I do about this since I have already closed and they have my money for a year's worth of insurance? This is crazy. What do I do now?????
Hi bettyhuck,

This is quite a strange situation. I would suggest you to contact your lender and the insurance company in order to sort out the issue. If the insurance company cancels the policy, I guess you may be able to claim the payments back from them. Also, your lender may ask you to take an homeowner's insurance from any other company.

Thanks
