homestead from the previous year?

Posted on: 13th Jan, 2010 12:36 pm
Is it possible to apply the homestead exemption to a condo that was bought in Jan '09 but forgot to apply for the homestead? In texas you can still reclaim as that year if you forgot but not sure about the rules in hawaii.
any info or redirect would be appreciated.
Hi help,

It is possible to claim homestead exemption for the previous year. If you had met all the required qualification for the homestead exemption, you should be able to claim it for the last year. State laws do vary from one state to another. But most of the states do allow that. You can check with the county assessor's office to know if it is allowed in your state.

Thanks,

Jerry
