I lent a friend money and now he wont return my calls. I know he has money as he just went to vegas can i put a lien on his house or am i basically out of the money as there was no contract signed.
Hi dogbit,
As there is no contract signed between you and your friend, I doubt whether or not you would be able to place a lien on his property. However, I would suggest you to contact a real estate attorney and take his opinion in this regard.

If your friend agrees with you, you can put a lien on his house. But hes got to agree with you because it was a verbal contract. Chances are very good his recollection of the verbal agreement is going to be very different then yours, so I wouldn't count of being able to place a lien on his property.
You should take him to court to resolve the matter - but you'll probably lose because both of you are going to have different stories, and there isn't a written contract to support either one of them. How much did you lend him? Take her to small claims court if it's under $5,000.00.
