should i keep paying student loans while going through a chapter 7 bankruptcy? i haven't filed yet but my first payment on my student loans is due 3/21/13. i am well aware that these loans will not be discharged with my other debt
Hi Mel,
When you file bankruptcy, there is an automatic stay on your debt accounts. As these are student loans, it will be better if you could speak to your bankruptcy attorney in this regard. He will let you know whether or not you should pay the student loans in this period of time.
Thanks,
Jerry

Hi Mel,
I agree with what Jerry has said. You should get in touch with the trustee and the attorney and take their opinion before you pay the loan.
Thanks
